At Sunstone Homes we are passionate about building quality energy efficient homes. One of the most important features in our homes is one you may never see. When it comes to buying a new home, people are savvier than ever, and are looking for smart new ways to save energy. And today one of the most effective ways to do that is through energy efficient Cocoon Insulation.
OUTPERFORMING FIBERGLASS.
Cocoon cellulose insulation is setting the standard for energy efficient attic and wall insulation today. It is much more dense than typical fiberglass insulation and conforms to the space where it’s applied- around wires, electrical boxes and water pipes- creating an even continuous blanket of insulation. This dramatically reduces drafts, energy loss and convectional airflow caused by air infiltration. And as such simply "smarter" insulation.
COMFORTABLE HOMES MEAN HAPPY HOMEOWNERS.
By providing a tighter seal and better protection against air infiltration, Cocoon insulation achieves 26% greater overall energy efficiency. Cocoon insulation has exceptional acoustic sound- deadening properties, so it absorbs outside sounds from things like planes and street traffic, as well as inside sounds, like plumbing. In short, Cocoon insulation makes for truly comfortable homes. And Cocoon insulation is people safe - something else today’s new home buyers are looking for. It is non-toxic, non-itchy, non-carcinogenic and requires no special health warning labels because it contains no asbestos or fiberglass. Add to that, the fact that Cocoon insulation requires less source energy to produce, making it environmentally responsible as well. Cocoon insulation is made from recycled paper products and yet is engineered as a Class 1 fire-rated building material that meets all specifications set by federal, state and city building authorities. It also permanently resists fungus and insects.
STATE-OF-THE-ART INSTALLATION TECHNIQUES.
Cocoon installation equipment includes state-of-the-art blowing and spraying machines, which allow the insulation to be installed quickly and easily by trained professionals.
Here’s how they work: For walls, a large hose channels the insulation, which activates a dry adhesive with a fine mist just before being sprayed into the wall cavity. The newly installed insulation forms a monolithic seal within 24 hours, allowing the builder to move along quickly and stay on schedule. For attic installation, Cocoon insulation is either blown in dry or stabilized with a fine mist. Continuous inspection occurs during both processes to make sure coverage is complete and the desired thickness is achieved. Properly installed, Cocoon insulation permanently provides the required R-value.
